In Fall 2023, the property introduced its “zero waste” food court initiative. Zero waste is defined as reducing waste to landfill, incineration and environment by 90% or more. With a lengthy record of sustainable practices, Quinte Mall embraced the objective with the understanding that the food court program would sustain itself well into the future. In addition to the new zero waste food court program, Quinte Mall expanded its sustainable initiatives throughout the centre.
Food Court Sorting Station - Striving for Zero Waste
You'll notice fewer trash bins in the Food Court! There's a reason for that. Our food court now features an in-line tray station that sorts your waste in order to streamline and eliminate landfill waste. It's been designed to manage products and processes to systematically avoid and eliminate the volume and toxicity of waste and materials, conserve and recover all resources, and not have it sent to landfills. We've also introduced an organics program where food waste is being collected to be composted.
Water Bottle Refill Station
Minimize plastic waste and refill your water bottle at our water station. Located in the public washroom hallway in the Food Court.
Tesla Charging Stations
The Telsa charging stations are located in the parking lot in front of East Side Mario's, along Bell Blvd. featuring 20 Tesla Supercharging stations for your convenience.
Recycling
Product which flows through Quinte Mall is carefully examined as to its recyclable potential. As with all shopping centres, the diversity of waste produced on site is akin to handling the waste of a micro city. Household chemicals, biological waste, wooden skids, plastic, cardboard, packaging (non-perishable and consumer), construction waste and batteries are just a few of the products that Quinte Mall sorts on an ongoing basis. Using local partners, all materials are handled properly and efficiently, ensuring accountability on an annual basis.
Energy Efficiency
Quinte Mall strives to attain higher energy efficiency standards through environmental building control systems, environmentally friendly lighting and efficient heating solutions.
Environmental Compliance
Through its environmental management program, Quinte Mall closely monitors environmental compliance in our Centre. We have also strengthened the language in our standard lease document, which outlines tenants’ obligations with regard to environmental legislation.
Public Transportation
A public transit bus loop and stop, with two bus shelters, is located at Quinte Mall, off Bell Blvd. in front of Entrance 3 (near Sportchek). City of Belleville public transit operates seven (7) days a week, Monday to Sunday. All buses are fully accessible. Please visit HERE for a list of routes and schedules.
Ride Sharing & Carpooling
Two (2) dedicated ride sharing / carpooling parking stalls are located at the bus loop next to the bus shelters.
